Wellington Phoenix will be looking to move into the playoff places when they play host to Adelaide United in round eight of the A-League on Saturday.

The visitors, meanwhile, head into the weekend unbeaten in each of their last five league outings and will journey to the Wellington Regional Stadium seeking to continue in the same vein.

After stumbling into the new campaign, Adelaide United have quickly hit their stride and put together a fine run of results in recent weeks. The Reds have enjoyed the better of this fixture and we are backing them to take the positives from their draw against Brisbane Roar and claim all three points in this one.

Central Coast vs. Sydney FC (Saturday, 6.00am)

Aiming to avoid a third consecutive defeat, Central Coast Mariners welcome Sydney FC to the Central Coast Stadium on Saturday in round eight of the 2022-23 Australian A-League season.

Meanwhile, the away side make the trip to Gosford in search of a third victory on the bounce to help continue their recent upturn in form.

We say: Central Coast Mariners 2-1 Sydney FC

Both sides boast similar attacking numbers heading into this one, so it would be a surprise if either of them came away without conceding. However, Central Coast Mariners are just about more solid at the back, and we can see them narrowly coming out on top at the end of the 90 minutes.

Melbourne City vs. Victory (Saturday, 8.45am)

The first Melbourne Derby of the 2022-23 A-League campaign will take place on Saturday at Melbourne Rectangular Stadium as the league leaders Melbourne City host Melbourne Victory.

Last Saturday, City suffered their first defeat of the season, falling 2-1 versus Sydney FC, while Big V have points in three of their previous four fixtures, edging Macarthur 1-0 a week ago.

We say: Melbourne City 2-1 Melbourne Victory

Lately, Victory look more organised and compact defensively, but City have the personnel to get through that defensive line and a striker who has rarely been contained over the past few seasons, so we expect the home team will be too much for the visitors to handle this weekend.
