Sam Burns collects his second PGA Tour title of 2021 by winning the Sanderson Farms Championship in Mississippi.

Sam Burns produced a strong finish to win the Sanderson Farms Championship, a result which will see him move into the top 20 of the World Golf Rankings.

The 25-year-old was one of a number of American players who could count themselves unfortunate not to earn a place on their nation's Ryder Cup team last week.

However, Burns took full advantage of the extra preparation time, following rounds of 68, 66 and 65 with a 67 which included four birdies on the back nine.

Burns made life difficult for himself by sending his second shot on the final hole into the greenside bunker, but he left himself two putts from inside 10 feet to wrap up victory by one shot.

Nick Watney, who last won a PGA Tour title nine years ago, and Cameron Young finished in a tie for second spot, while Henrik Norlander was the standout name in a group of four players who claimed fourth position.

Sahith Teegala missed out on a wire-to-wire victory, the world number 494 eventually finishing in a share of eighth place.
