England fight back to see off Jamaica

England overturn an early deficit to record an impressive 54-50 victory over Jamaica at the Netball World Cup.

England have overcome a slow start to record a 54-50 triumph against Jamaica in the Netball World Cup.

After both teams had won their opening game in Group B, a competitive contest was expected on Saturday and England soon discovered that they would require a high-quality display to see off their opponents.

Jamaica had the better of the opening two quarters, taking them 14-11 and 14-12 respectively, before Tracey Neville's side roared back in the third by a 16-9 scoreline, moving the overall score to 39-37.

The final quarter was a back-and-forth affair but Joanne Harten, who contributed 37 points in the match, and Helen Housby saw their team home to effectively ensure that they will top the group ahead of the next stage.

England's final group game will take place against Samoa on Sunday.
