Former Indianapolis Colts running back Zurlon Tipton dies at the age of 26 after accidentally shooting himself.

Former Indianapolis Colts running back Zurlon Tipton has died in hospital after accidentally shooting himself.

The 26-year-old's condition deteriorated after suffering a gunshot wound to his stomach.

According to ESPN, the sportsman's 45-caliber semiautomatic discharged by accident after he reached into his duffel bag while getting his car serviced in Detroit on Tuesday.

Tipton, who was arrested last year for allegedly firing a weapon, played for the Colts for two years before leaving in 2015.
