Russian duo lead two-man bobsleigh

Alexander Zubkov and Alexey Voevoda of Russia head the field going into the second day of the two-man bobsleigh event at the 2014 Sochi Games.

Russian pairing Alexander Zubkov and Alexey Voevoda have secured an overnight lead in the two-man bobsleigh event at Sochi 2014, despite not talking to each other.

According to BBC Sport commentator Colin Bryce, the duo do not get on, but their inter-team politics have not hindered them.

Their combined time of 1:52.82 allows them a 0.32-second advantage on Switzerland 1 going into day two.

Steven Holcomb's USA 1 team lie in third spot, while Team GB hopefuls Lamin Deen and John Baines are 23rd, 2.53 seconds behind the leaders.

Of both the Russians and the Brits, Bryce said: "Zubkov and Voevoda absolutely hate each other. They don't talk, but somehow they have got it together in time for the Olympics and they are in gold medal position now.

"As for Team GB, everyone looks a little disappointed. They want to get into the top 20 and will have their work cut out tomorrow."

Currently, Monaco sit in 20th spot having recorded a time of 1:54.80. Jamaica's team, led by Winston Watts, is currently in last place with a combined finish of 1:57.23.
