Ole Einar Bjoerndalen of Norway and Hayley Wickenheiser of Canada have been introduced as the newly-elected members of the International Olympic Committee athletes' commission at the Sochi Winter Olympics closing ceremony today.
At the Fisht Olympic Stadium, the duo handed over bouquets of flowers to representative volunteers.
The election was held over the past 21 days, with biathlete Bjoerndalen receiving 1,087 votes and ice hockey veteran Wickenheiser receiving 758.
The 40-year-old Norwegian won two gold medals at Sochi, adding to his 11 won at previous Games, while the 35-year-old Canadian, a staple of the Maple Leaf women's team, won silver at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano.
