Cristiano Ronaldo is in line for his competitive Juventus debut as he is named in the starting XI for Saturday's Serie A opener away at Chievo Verona.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been named in the Juventus starting XI as he prepares to make his competitive debut for the club in Saturday's Serie A opener away at Chievo Verona.

The Portugal talisman, who joined the Bianconeri from Real Madrid in July in a deal worth £99.2m, will lead the attack as coach Massimiliano Allegri opts for a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Douglas Costa, Paulo Dybala and Juan Cuadrado will operate behind Ronaldo as the three attacking midfielders, while Sami Khedira and Miralem Pjanic sit further behind ahead of the defence.

The returning Leonardo Bonucci, meanwhile, makes his second debut for the Turin club as he starts alongside Giorgio Chiellini at centre-back, while Wojciech Szczesny is between the sticks.

As for Chievo, there is a debut at centre-forward for Mariusz Stepinski, who arrived at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi from Nantes during the summer.

Fellow newcomer Nenad Tomovic also starts, as do Emanuele Giaccherini and Luca Rossettini as part of an overhauled Gialloblu squad for the 2018-19 campaign.

AC Chievo Verona: Sorrentino; Tomovic, Rossettini, Bani, Cacciatore; Rigoni, Radovanovic, Hetemaj; Depaoli, Stepinski, Giaccherini
Subs: Semper, Tanasijevic, Barba, Leris, Kiyine, Seculin, Djordjevic, Obi, Birsa, Pellissier, Jaroszynski, Meggiorini
