One of the biggest matches in world football will take place on Sunday evening in the Spanish capital, with Real Madrid welcoming Barcelona for the latest instalment of El Clasico.
Real Madrid are top of the La Liga table, eight points clear of second-placed Barcelona, demonstrating the importance of the visitors picking up a positive result this weekend.
Los Blancos are on for a league and Champions League double this season, having advanced to the semi-finals of the European Cup on Wednesday evening with a penalty-shootout win over the holders Manchester City.
However, Barcelona were knocked out of the same competition by Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, and Xavi's side have serious work to do if they are to retain the La Liga title.
Here, Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at the head-to-head record and previous meetings between the two sides ahead of what is shaping up to be another fascinating battle.

Head-to-head record
Previous meetings: 256
Real Madrid wins: 105
Draws: 51
Barcelona wins: 100
These two sides have locked horns on 256 occasions throughout history, and it is Real Madrid that just about lead the head-to-head record, recording 105 wins to Barcelona's 100, while there have also been 51 draws.
Lionel Messi is comfortably the highest goalscorer in this fixture, with the Argentine netting an incredible 26 goals against Real Madrid during his glittering career at Barcelona.
Real Madrid will be going in search of a fourth straight victory over Barcelona in all competitions this weekend, and they have already overcome the Catalan side twice this season - a 2-1 win in the reverse league game back in October, before recording a 4-1 victory in the final of the Spanish Super Cup in January.
Barcelona had been on a three-game winning run against Los Blancos at the start of last year, though, and both have therefore posted three wins from their last six encounters in all competitions.

In terms of La Liga, Real Madrid also just about lead the head-to-head record, posting 78 wins to Barcelona's 74, while there have also been 35 draws, which is low considering how well-matched the pair have been.
Real Madrid won four straight league matches against Barcelona between March 2020 and October 2021, but both have two victories from their last four meetings in Spain's top flight.
The corresponding match during the 2022-23 campaign ended in a 3-1 win for Real Madrid, but Barcelona famously won 4-0 at Bernabeu during the 2021-22 season.
There has not been a league draw between these two teams since December 2019, while they have not shared the points in Spain's top flight at Bernabeu since April 2011.
