Gerard Deulofeu on target in Spain win over France at Stade de France

Spain beat France 2-0 at the Stade de France to make it eight games without defeat, courtesy of goals from David Silva and Gerard Deulofeu.

David Silva scored from the spot and Gerard Deulofeu added a second as Spain earned a 2-0 win over France in Tuesday's friendly at the Stade de France.

The major talking point in the match arrived shortly into the second half, as video technology was required - for the first of two times in the contest - to rule out an Antoine Griezmann goal with the scoreline still goalless.

Prior to kickoff in Paris, the inclusion of Kylian Mbappe for his full France debut was the hot topic of discussion, and the AS Monaco teenager came close to an opener when getting off a shot at the front post for David de Gea to turn away with his legs.

Both teams were putting together promising attacking moves, but it was Les Bleus who were coming closest to finding a breakthrough as Laurent Koscielny was this time denied on the line by Gerard Pique.

Andres Iniesta's mazy run almost ended with the ball in the back of the net, though shortly later the net did ripple after Pique got on the end of a cross, only for referee Felix Zwayer to rule it out for a foul by Sergio Ramos.

Lloris then kept out Iniesta from the angle, before De Gea clawed clear a dangerous Kevin Gameiro attempt at the other end of the field in a lively friendly affair.

Another big moment arrived 48 minutes in when, after seeing Isco's curled shot helped aside, Griezmann met the ball with his head from close range but saw his goal ruled out by the Video Assistant Referee for offside.

Spain picked things up and found a way through 21 minutes from time through a Silva pen, after Deulofeu latched on to a loose ball and was taken down by Koscielny against the run of play.

AC Milan loanee Deulofeu was on the scoresheet himself in the remainder, too, getting on the end of a Jordi Alba pass and side-footing in at the back post to make sure of the away win, with the VAR allowing the goal to stand.
