England goal shooter Pamela Cookey retires from international rugby with immediate effect.

England goal shooter Pamela Cookey has announced her retirement from international netball.

The 31-year-old, who captained England to bronze in the 2011 World Cup, will step down with immediate effect after earning 114 caps over 11 years.

"I've really loved wearing the red dress and I hope I have been able to give back as much as I have received to the sport," BBC Sport quotes Cookey as saying.

Cookey will continue playing in the Superleague for Surrey Storm.
