Academica de Coimbra beat 10-man Maritimo for first win

Academica de Coimbra earn their first three points of the season after winning 1-0 against the 10 men of Maritimo.

Academica de Coimbra won their first game of the season after beating 10-man Maritimo 1-0 at the Estadio Cidade de Coimbra.

Maritimo defender Dirceu was sent off within the first 20 minutes after receiving a second yellow card for two early fouls.

Academica took until the 64th minute to take the lead as Rui Pedro converted a penalty that would earn his side all three points.

The win still sees Academica rooted to the bottom of the Primeira Liga, while Martimo remain in 11th.
