Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says that discussions with Paul Pogba over a new deal "are ongoing".

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that he is under the impression that Paul Pogba wants to remain at Old Trafford this summer.

Pogba's contract with the Red Devils is due to expire next June, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future, with Paris Saint-Germain said to be lining up a bid.

The midfielder has allegedly rejected a £50m contract at Old Trafford, as he looks to force a move away from the club during this summer's transfer window.

When questioned on the situation after Saturday's pre-season defeat to Queens Park Rangers, Solskjaer said that discussions between the two parties over a new deal "are ongoing".

"The talks are ongoing between Paul's representatives and our representatives. All the dialogue I've had with Paul is he's looking forward to the season," the Manchester Evening News quotes the Norwegian as saying.

Pogba is not yet back with Man United for pre-season training, as the midfielder has been given an extended break following his involvement for France at Euro 2020.

The 28-year-old scored six goals and registered nine assists in 42 appearances for the 20-time English champions during the 2020-21 campaign.
