Diego Maradona "enjoying" FIFA scandal

Diego Maradona calls on FIFA officials to confront the truth in order to restore its badly damaged image.

Diego Maradona has become the latest in the world of football to weigh in on the ongoing FIFA corruption scandal, claiming that he is "enjoying" the current state of affairs.

Several of the world governing body's top officials were charged with alleged racketeering offences during dawn raids in Zurich on Wednesday morning.

Former World Cup winner Maradona, who launched a scathing attack on current top boss Sepp Blatter earlier this week, has now called on the damaged organisation to confront the truth.

"They called me mad, but thankfully today the truth is out and I am enjoying it," Maradona told Argentine radio station La Red. "They hate soccer. They hate transparency. Enough shady dealings. Enough lying to the people."

Blatter is due to go up against Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein of Jordan in Friday's FIFA presidential election, although UEFA has called for a halt to the process.
