FIFA HQ raided by Swiss officials

Swiss officials confirm that they have conducted a fresh raid on FIFA's headquarters in Zurich.

FIFA's headquarters in Zurich have been raided again by Swiss officials as part of the ongoing investigation into corruption claims at the governing body.

In a statement, the Swiss attorney general's office said that it had conducted the raid on Thursday to confirm existing allegations and find fresh evidence, both electronic and physical.

"As part of the ongoing criminal investigations in the FIFA affair, the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland (OAG) carried out a search of FIFA's headquarters on June 2, 2016 with the aim of confirming existing findings and obtaining further information," it said.

The OAG added that the raid only related to people previously accused of wrongdoing, including former president Sepp Blatter, and no-one else is currently under investigation.

The news comes after reports that new president Gianni Infantino could be suspended for 90 days due to an alleged ethics violation.
