Real Betis reportedly begin planning for the exit of defensive midfielder Guido Rodriguez this summer, who has been linked with a move to Premier League side Everton.

Real Betis have reportedly begun planning for the exit of defensive midfielder Guido Rodriguez this summer, who has been linked with a move to Everton.

The 28-year-old enjoyed a fine campaign for the La Liga outfit during 2021-22, making 47 appearances across all competitions as Betis won the Copa del Rey and achieved an impressive fifth-placed finished in the league under Manuel Pellegrini.

Such form has seen the Argentina international linked with a move to the Premier League during the transfer window, with Sport suggesting that the Toffees are a potential destination.

The report states that Frank Lampard's side have made an approach to Rodriguez to discuss a potential move, although no official offer has yet been made to Betis.

Betis are demanding between €35m (£29.4m) and €40m (£33.6m) for the midfielder according to the report, but have begun making plans for a replacement ahead of an expected exit this summer - one of which is said to be Getafe's Mauro Arambarri.

Rodriguez made the move to Spain for around £8.9m from Mexican side Club America in January 2020, and has since gone on to make 100 appearances for the club during his two-and-a-half-year stay.

Meanwhile, it appears that Lampard has turned his attention to central midfielder targets ahead of their opening game of the 2022-23 campaign against Chelsea on August 6.

Ruben Vinagre and Dwight McNeil completed their moves to Goodison Park earlier this week to become the second and third signings of the window following James Tarkowski's move from Burnley on a free transfer earlier in the summer.
